Ganesh Chaturthi Special: Everyday a New Stair is Counted to Reach this Temple

Situated on a hill in the city of Jaipur on the Aravalli ranges, it is the only temple in the country where there is a statue of Ganesha.

Situated on a hill in the city of Jaipur on the Aravalli ranges, it is the only temple in the country where there is a statue of Ganesha without a trunk. This temple is famously known as Garh Ganesh. It is said that Sawai Jai Singh had organized Ashwamedh Yagya by calling special pundits of Gujarat here to establish Jaipur in the 18th century. Then while laying the foundation of Jaipur, the idol of Balroop Ganesh Ji was made and worshiped. The idol of the same Ganpati was made to sit on the hill of Aravalli in the northern direction of the city by making a fort. Sawai Jai Singh and the priests who performed the Yagya believed that this would keep Lord Ganesha's eyes on the whole city. His blessings will be received.

365 step stairs to the temple

According to the experts, a ladder was constructed every day to reach the Garh Ganesh temple built at a height of about 500 feet. In this way, the construction of a single staircase continued for the entire 365 days. Today, in order to fulfill their wishes, hundreds of devotees from far and wide reach the temple by climbing 365 steps and have the darshan of Lord Ganesha without a trunk.

With the establishment of this temple, photography was banned here. The idol present in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple was never photographed. In such a situation, even after 300 years of the establishment of the temple, the picture of Lord Ganesha did not appear. God can be seen only by looking.

Aarti was seen from the roof of the City Palace

The special thing about the temple is that the architects of Sawai Jai Singh got the premises built in such a place that the king could see the aarti in the temple every morning and evening while standing from the city palace. The Garhganesh, Govind Dev Mandir, City Palace, and Albert Hall were constructed parallel to each other in the same direction on the hill. Devotees who visit regularly believe that every wish sought from Garh Ganesh is fulfilled by having a regular darshan on seven Wednesdays. Climbing the stairs in the temple premises, two rats are also installed at the main entrance, in whose ears the devotees go to tell their wishes and the rats carry those wishes to Bal Ganesh.
