After 14 months, the Modi government bowed in front of the farmers' movement, but directly the farmer leaders did not get the credit. PM Modi announced it directly without any conversation. Now even the farmer leaders do not want to allow BJP to take its benefit. This is the reason that when the agricultural laws are withdrawn, farmer leaders have raised new demands for MSP, amendments in the electricity bill, and seed bill to continue the movement.

Punjab and UP are important in the 5 states of elections

Assembly elections are going to be held in 5 states of the country. These include Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab. The most important states from the point of view of farmers are Punjab and UP. Most of the farmers and people in Punjab were also in support of the agitating farmers. Therefore, if the movement continues, there will be a big political loss for the BJP in Punjab. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh is a big state in terms of seats, which also has a big impact on the Lok Sabha elections. Most of the leaders leading the farmers' movement are from these two states. If the movement continues, the political difficulties will continue for the BJP.

There is a discussion that some farmer leaders are trying to keep the movement in 5 states and keep it alive till 2024 so that the BJP can be cornered on this issue in the Lok Sabha elections also. The peasant leaders of Punjab were adamant on the insistence of withdrawing these laws. There seems to be a consensus on the movement from their side on PM Modi's decision to withdraw the agriculture law.
