Domestic Flights: Passengers Traveling on the Plane with Face Shield and PPE Kit

Domestic flights started from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) in the national capital on Monday.  The first flight left for Pune in Maharashtra at 4.45 am today.  The first domestic flight will land in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at 7.45 am on Monday. Seven aircraft from Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai have landed at IGI Airport.  Domestic aircraft started on Monday after a long lockdown with complete vigilance and precaution.  Passengers boarding the Delhi-Bhubaneswar Vistara flight used face shields for their safety.

Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Sunday announced that domestic aircraft will be launched across the country from May 25.  The lockdown in India has continued since March 25 due to the novel coronavirus.  Under this, all domestic aircraft were also stopped.

Separate code of conduct (SOP) issued by the states for passengers arriving via flights is causing trouble.  Quarantine has become an issue in most states.  Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh have started objecting to the commencement of domestic flights.  However, the Union Minister of Aviation had earlier said that passengers without symptoms should be allowed to leave after checking the health bridge app.

Following this announcement, the Airports Authority of India on Thursday issued SOP for all airports.  According to SOPs, the airport has already been warned for all types of preparations.  It said that the seating arrangement for the passengers should be ensured in such a way that physical distance can be followed.  For this, a chair was placed among the passengers on which proper markers / tape etc. were placed.
