Two district excise officers (DEOs) were suspended by the state government on the recommendation of the chief electoral officer. CEO had expressed his displeasure over a performance of these officers recently in a review meeting of Lok Sabha elections 2019. Election Commission has laid special focus on distribution of liquor to influence votes. In recently held assembly elections too, election commission had made special squads to keep a tab on liquor mafia and their distribution network.
Special provisions were made on CVigil mobile application as well. A team from election commission is supposed to reach the spot within 100 minutes of complaint on the mobile app to address such complaints. It had proved its utility in assembly elections.
Officers from Bhind and Panna could not give a satisfactory reply on the seizure of illegal liquor in their districts during a review meeting, with district officers of the state, of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The meeting was conducted by CEO VL Kantha Rao.
Their pace of complaints redressal was also found below the benchmark. Behind DEO RS Mishra and Panna, DEO Indrajit Singh Chouhan has been attached to their respective divisional headquarters. Mishra has been attached at Gwalior and Chouhan has been attached to Sagar divisional headquarter.
