Digital India: Mobile Internet Speed Increased by 47% in One Year
Although thousands of users on social media every day complain about the speed of the internet, in reality, it is not so. According to the June 2021 report of Ookla's Speedtest Global Index, the speed of mobile internet and broadband internet in India has increased significantly. The report said that the average speed of mobile internet in India in June 2021 was 17.84Mbps from 15.34Mbps in May, while the average speed of global mobile internet in June 2021 was 55.34Mbps from 55.11Mbps in May.

That means in one month the speed of mobile internet in India has increased by 16.3. Apart from mobile internet, broadband internet speed in India has also seen an increase of 4.53 percent. The average broadband speed in June was 58.17Mbps against 55.65Mbps in May. The global broadband average speed was 106.61Mbps in June, up from 105.17Mbps in May.

The June Global Speedtest data report is available on Ukla's website. India's ranking in global internet speed has also improved. India is ranked 70th in the ranking of mobile speed and now India has come to number 122 in the ranking of broadband speed. This ranking was earlier 73 and 128 respectively. According to Ookla, this is the third consecutive time that India's mobile internet speed has seen an improvement.
What was the speed of mobile internet in India in June 2021?
According to the data of Speedtest, the average speed of mobile internet in India in June 2021 has been 17.84Mbps. It has registered a growth of 46.71 percent on an annual basis. In June 2020, the average speed of mobile internet in India was 12.16Mbps. Average upload speed has also seen an increase of 18.85 percent annually. Last year the average mobile uploading speed was 4.35Mbps which has increased to 5.17Mbps this year.
