Congress party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Thursday raised the issue of arrest of P Chidambaram in a Press conference and accused the government of misusing Investigative agencies. Let us tell you that a press conference was organized in the party headquarters of the Congress. Randeep Surjewala said, "A veteran with a dedicated public life of 40 years has been arrested on the statement of a jailed woman who is accused of killing her own daughter and has given a statement of acceptance from jail."
Randeep Surjewala said, "P. Chidambaram is one of the respected Economists and politicians of India. He has assisted the investigating officers every time. As a senior Supreme Court lawyer, he has the highest respect for the Constitution. He did not defer any action, nor did he intend to.
According to Surjewala, there was no reason for the CBI and ED to arrest him at midnight by attacking the BJP government's low-level intention to humiliate and tarnish Chidambaram's reputation. He said, 'By associating with a few puppet news channels, the BJP propaganda machine works for completely baseless, fake news and outright lies. The facts do not support his claim. '
Surjewala said that the case relates to the year 2007 and Chidambaram's arrest was made 12 years after the case and 6 years after PM Modi came to power. Neither those arrested, those allowed to foreign investment, nor the company officials who committed the crime. Neither Chidambaram nor his son have been charged with any crime in the INX Media case. Apart from this, no crime has been mentioned in the FIR against P. Chidambaram nor any charge sheet has been filed till date.
