CAA Protest in UP Case Filed Against More than 250 People in Lucknow

A case has been registered in Lucknow after Aligarh for protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.  In Lucknow, a large number of women joined people of various organizations on Thursday for a week-long dharna against the CAA and NRC without permission. Men were also standing around and leading the dharna.

ADCP Vikas Chandra Tripathi said that more than 400 women and men involved in the dharna have been given notice here. In which it has been clearly stated that the picketing is illegal and this is causing inconvenience to the tourists visiting the clock tower.

This is a historical site and dharna demonstrations are not allowed here. ADCP Tripathi warned of stern action against the protesters. Section 144 is applicable in the city, even the dharna is not allowed, yet men are gathering at the clock tower with women. So far, three FIRs have been registered against more than a hundred people in this case. He said that the police are constantly warning. Strict action will be taken after notice and FIR.
