Iran has alleged that Macaire was involved in the protests. The British government has expressed its displeasure over this matter. Britain's Foreign Secretary Dominic Robb said that our ambassador was detained in Tehran without any reason, which is a violation of international law.
According to the report, hundreds of students were protesting against the Ukraine plane crash outside Amir Kabir University in Tehran. It also included Rob Macaire. The protesters demanded that the Iranian government take concrete action against those responsible for the plane crash. The police also used light force when the protests intensified.

Iran admitted on Saturday that it was he who accidentally killed a Ukraine plane on the outskirts of Tehran. Iran has called it a 'human mistake'. There were 176 people on the plane. Iran said that the culprits will not be spared. According to Tehran-based Press TV, in a statement Iran's armed forces general staff said that security forces were on high alert at the time of the accident on Wednesday. During this time the Ukrainian aircraft was accidentally killed.
