Chief Justice of the Supreme Court NV Ramana was held at an event on the 75th Independence Day. He expressed concern over the bills being passed in Parliament without debate. He expressed unhappiness over the attitude of the MPs to avoid debate. Comparing it with the old times, he said that earlier both the houses of Parliament were full of lawyers. However, now the situation is different. It is time to review policies and achievements.

Confusion over the new law: Ramana 

The CJI said that the law is not being debated properly in Parliament at this time. We do not know what is the purpose of making laws. This system is not good for the public. In the old times, there was a good debate in the Parliament. It is unfortunate that this is not happening in today's time.

Earlier laws were discussed and considered. This helped in understanding the laws. He asked the lawyers to contribute to public service apart from judicial work. He said that lawyers should use their knowledge and knowledge in the service of the country.

22 bills passed in 8 days

The Monsoon Session of Parliament began with an uproar over the Pegasus issue. During this many bills were passed without discussion. Trinamool Congress MP in Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien compared passing the bill to making papdi-chaat.

He alleged that the government is giving an average time of 7 minutes to discuss a bill. Brien said that not a single bill was passed in the first week of the monsoon session. But within 8 days 22 bills were passed. Accordingly, it took only 10 minutes for 1 bill to be passed.

Government and opposition accuse each other

The government has accused the opposition of conspiring to tarnish the dignity of Parliament and stall its functioning. Opposition parties have accused the government of bringing in outsiders as marshals to suppress their voice in Parliament, killing democracy and beating up MPs.
