Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane on Thursday met his Italian counterpart Lt Gen Pietro Serino and Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini in Rome. He shared views on strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries. During this, they held wide-ranging discussions on strengthening military ties and bilateral defense cooperation. Meanwhile, the army tweeted, "General MM Naravane #COAS interacted with Lieutenant General Pietro Serino, Chief of Italian Army and discussed aspects of joint military cooperation."

"General MM Naravane #COAS called on Italian Defence Minister Hon'ble Lorenzo Guerini and exchanged views on strengthening India-Italy defence cooperation", the Indian Army wrote in another tweet.

Naravane reached Italy on Wednesday in the second leg of the tour of two countries, Britain and Italy. Officials said that in the meeting with the Defense Minister of Italy. The army chief discussed strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries. The Army Chief will also inaugurate a memorial for the Indian Army in the famous cassino city of Italy.

Naravane to inaugurate Indian Army Memorial in Italy:

During his two-day visit to Italy, the Army chief will inaugurate the Indian Army Memorial built-in memory of thousands of Indian soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the independence of Italy during World War II. The monument will inaugurated in Monte Casino in the province of Frosinone. According to the Indian Defense Ministry, about 50 thousand Indian soldiers were martyrs for the independence of Italy. The supreme sacrifice of the soldiers has been remembered in detail in the book published by the UK-based Commonwealth War Grave Commission on Indian warriors.
