Heavy rains wreaked havoc in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand late on Sunday night. Around five residential houses were damaged in Jamuni Tok and two at Siroudayar Tok in Jumma village of Dharchula. At the same time, there are reports of about five people missing, and so far the bodies of two people have been removed.

Rescue operation underway

District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan said there were reports that seven people were buried under the rubble due to heavy rains overnight in Jumma village. Receivables, SSB, police, SDRF, and rescue teams were rushed to the scene immediately after being notified. At the same time, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also been sent to the area. By the time this happened, the team has found two bodies in the village. The DM issued instructions to send relief supplies to the area and to carry out relief work immediately after holding a meeting with officials.

Chief Minister took information

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami contacted Pithoragarh District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan by telephone to inquire about the damage caused by heavy rains in Jumma village. The CM instructed the District Magistrate that all possible assistance should be provided to those involved immediately. Rescue and rescue operations should be carried out in full capacity. Proper treatment of the injured must be ensured.

 Yellow alert issued in two districts

The Department of Environment has predicted heavy rains in the Nainital and Pithoragarh regions of the government in the next 24 hours. A yellow notice has been issued by the Department of Environment in these regions. Meteorologists have predicted that light would produce moderate rain and thunderstorms in some regions. With regard to the capital Doon, meteorologists have predicted moderate to moderate rainfall in the capital, Doon, and surrounding areas.
