Police arrived in village Morana under police station Bhopa in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh to implement lockdown and social distancing. Two soldiers, including outpost incharge Morana sub-inspector Lekhraj Singh, were badly injured in the attack by a mob of villagers. Due to the critical condition of the outpost, he was referred to Meerut for immediate treatment. Confirming the incident, the police said that in this connection, the police have arrested the former head of Morna village and his two daughters-in-law.

According to the Muzaffarnagar district police spokesperson, "Around 6 pm, the post was in the area along with In-charge Morana Sub-Inspector Lekhraj Singh and 2 soldiers Ravi Kumar and another soldier. At the same time, the policemen saw the crowd present at the turn of Karhed in Morna village. A crowd of villagers gathered outside the house of former chief Nahar Singh. The police team spoke to Nahar Singh and the people present in the crowd for lockdown and social distancing. On this, the mob broke up on the policemen. '

He said, "Many women from the mob village also came and joined. There were sticks, iron rods etc. in the hands of the crowd. The mob surrounded the police team and attacked them in a planned manner. So the policemen could not even defend themselves. "On receiving the information about the incident, Superintendent of Police (Dehat) Nepal Singh, and Bhopa's Officer (CO) Ram Mohan Sharma also reached the spot with additional police force. Officers immediately admitted unconscious policemen to the nearby government hospital.

Sub-Inspector (Morna Chowki Incharge) Lekhraj Singh was referred to Meerut late Wednesday night.
