UP Govt Postpones Class 10th, 12th Board Exams till May 20

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday announced that the board examinations for Class 10th and 12th have been postponed till May 20. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said, "Class 10th and Class 12th exams of UP Board have been postponed till May 20. We'll hold a meeting in the first week of May to decide if we should hold the exams or explore other options."

The decision comes at a time when the Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled class 10 and postponed class 12 exams, in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases across the country. University examinations in Uttar Pradesh have also been postponed till May 15. According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 1,11,835 active COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh while the cumulative cases of the infection have mounted to 6,22,810.

Several states decided to postpone their state board exams:

Many other states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan. Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra have postponed their state board exams in view of the rise in active COVID-19 cases. The students of CBSE Class 10, whose exams have been cancelled, will promote on the basis of internal assessment. However, if students not satisfied with the marks obtained in the internal assessment. They can also appear for the examination once the situation arising out of COVID-19 becomes normal.

CBSE cancelled Class 10th Board Exam:

The board exams for CBSE Class 10th have cancelled and 12th exams postponed. The Union Ministry of Education on Wednesday informed after a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministery further said, "Results of Class 10th will prepare on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Class 12th exams will take place later. The board will review the situation on 1st June."

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given instruction to cancel the CBSE 10th Board Examination due to COVID -19 Pandemic.
