He joined the BJP in the presence of state president Swatantra Dev Singh in Lucknow. Ajit Balyan was the joint candidate of BSP, SP, and RLD in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, this alliance did not work and BJP won 65 seats. Congress leaders Ajay Kumar Dwivedi, Murli Manohar Jaiswal, Abhay Nath Tripathi, SP leaders Sonam Kishti, Vaibhav Chaturvedi, Shiromani Akali Dal Sardar Gurpreet Singh Bagga, and National Mahila Congress's Preeti Tiwari also joined BJP along with Ajit Balyan.

Claims to win more than 350 seats in 2022 assembly elections

On this occasion, the BJP state president said that in the 2022 assembly elections, BJP will perform better than 2017 and will win more than 350 seats due to the public welfare works of Modi and Yogi government and people's trust. He said that people want development, not familyism. Since the formation of the BJP government in 2017, the state is moving ahead on the path of development. Earlier corruption and familism prevailed. Women were not safe in the state but now there is a rule of law here. This is the reason that the faith of the people of the state has increased in the BJP.

Party preparing for the election

In fact, BJP seems to be at the forefront of the preparations for the elections in the state. However, SP President Akhilesh Yadav is also claiming that SP will win 400 seats in this election. At the same time, BSP is organizing a large-scale Brahmin convention to connect the Brahmins of the state with the party.
