Union Cabinet Meeting Today: Physical Meeting being held after 15 Months

The Union Cabinet meeting is being held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence today. In this, important issues like corona vaccination and a sluggish economy are expected to be discussed. The PM and other ministers have attended the meeting directly instead of video conferencing. Earlier last year a direct meeting was held in the first week of April. There has been a meeting through video conferencing almost every week in the lockdown.

Council of Ministers also meeting through video conference in the evening

PM Modi will also hold a meeting of the Council of Ministers through video conferencing this evening. This will be the second meeting a week after the cabinet expansion on July 7. The first meeting of the new Council of Ministers was held on 8 July. Earlier on July 7, 43 ministers had taken oath as ministers. It includes 15 cabinet and 28 ministers of state.

The meeting is being held in view of the monsoon session

The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on July 19. It is believed that in view of this, a meeting of the Council of Ministers is being called. Actually, many other important issues including vaccination against Corona are in discussion at this time. In such a situation, these issues can be discussed in the meeting and some big decisions can also be taken. It is believed that many important decisions can also be taken to give impetus to the sluggish economy.

  • Many important decisions were taken in the meeting held immediately after the cabinet expansion. In this, it was decided that decisions were taken on how to improve the health emergency from benefiting the farmers.
  • In view of the Corona period, in the meeting, PM Modi had approved a package of Rs 23 thousand crores for health emergencies.
  • Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that in view of the problems faced by us in the second wave of Corona, we have brought a new package of 23 thousand crores.
  • In this package, the centre will spend 15 thousand crores and the state governments will be given 8 thousand crores.
  • Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that in the meeting, emphasis was laid on strengthening the mandis for the welfare of the farmers. For this, along with the use of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, arrangements have been made for rebates on interest on loans.
  • The Agriculture Minister said that the government has made a plan to reach one lakh crore rupees to the farmers through the mandis.
