UAE Extends Ban on Flights from India till June 30

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday extended the suspension of passenger flights from India till June 30 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. On the other hand, Bangladesh has also closed the borders with India for 14 more days. However, freight movement from the border will continue. The UAE suspended all passenger flights from and to India on 25 April in view of increasing cases of coronavirus infections. Emirates Airlines said in a notice issued on its website, "It has suspended passenger flights from India effective April 24 until June 30. Furthermore, passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will not allow traveling from any other point to the UAE."

The statement further states, "However UAE nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with the revised published COVID-19 protocols will be exempt for travel."

Bangladesh closed the borders with India:

Bangladesh first closed its borders on 26 April in view of the worsening situation of the coronavirus in India. On May 8, Bangladesh extended the travel ban for 14 more days after six cases of the B1.617.2 variant of the coronavirus reported in the country. On Sunday, this ban further extended for 14 days.

Saudi Arabia lifts travel ban from 10 other countries including UAE:

Saudi Arabia announced the entry of passengers from 10 countries. Passengers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Germany, the United States, Ireland, Italy. Portugal, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, France and Japan will be allowed entry in the country. If necessary, passengers arriving from these countries will be subjected to institutional quarantine procedures. It is mandatory for all non-vaccinated travelers to follow institutional quarantine procedures for a period of 7 days. They have to show a valid health insurance policy to cover the risks of COVID-19.
