U-17 Women’s World Cup to Take Place in India in October 2022: FIFA

The Under-17 Women's Football World Cup will be held in India from 11 to 30 October in 2022. It was announced at the FIFA Council meeting on Thursday. Earlier, this World Cup was to schedule to be held in 2020 in India, but it was postponed twice due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

However, FIFA handed the hosting rights of the 2022 edition to India in November last year. Only players born after 1 January 2003 and before 31 December 2005 will be allowed to play in this competition.

Tournament postponed twice:

The Under-17 Women's Football World Cup has been postponed twice due to a coronavirus outbreak. The tournament earlier scheduled to be held from 2 to 21 November in 2020, but it postponed from 17 February to 7 March in 2021 in view of the increasing case of coronavirus worldwide.

Training programs started for women players:

The training programs have been started by the Football Federation of India at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai to promote football among women players. At the same time, the Khelo India Football Championship has also started in association with the Sports Ministry.

FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023

FIFA also announced that the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August. The new play-off tournament for the FIFA World Cup 2023 will take place from 17 to 23 February 2023.

The FIFA Council also said that the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup Costa Rica 2022 will take place between 10–28 August in 2022. Meanwhile, the play-off for 14 teams for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 will take place from 19 to 25 June this year.
