Two More Deaths due to Coronavirus in Punjab, Total Number of Infected are 1980

According to the medical bulletin, of the new cases reported on Monday, six are in Ludhiana, three in Hoshiarpur, two in Jalandhar and Faridkot and one in Taran Taran, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.

With the death of two more people due to corona virus infected in Punjab, the death toll from Covid-19 rose to 37 on Monday. At the same time, with the arrival of 16 new cases in the state in the last 24 hours, the number of people infected so far in the state has reached to 1,980. A Health Department official said on Monday that a 50-year-old adult died in Kapurthala Sadar Hospital on Monday while a 35-year-old youth died of Corona virus infection in Hoshiarpur on Sunday night.

According to the medical bulletin, of the new cases reported on Monday, six are in Ludhiana, three in Hoshiarpur, two in Jalandhar and Faridkot and one in Taran Taran, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday asked the civil and police administration to remain on high alert and cautioned that the threat of an increase in cases of corona virus infection amid the lockdown waiver would be a "real test".

Singh also directed the Transport Department to draft a standard operating procedure for resumption of local bus services at places other than prohibited areas. He, however, ruled out the possibility of interstate bus service by 31 May. He called the "danger of spreading the infection a real test" as people got to meet each other with the relaxation of restrictions. He directed all departments to ensure that there is strict compliance of monitoring coordination and all consultations against Covid-19.

He directed the police department to strictly abide by the rules regarding distance from each other and other Covid-19 containment protocols and to impose fines on the exits from those without masks. The Chief Minister gave these instructions during a video conference organized to review the status of Covid-19 in the state and the ongoing lockdown.
