The twitter accounts of several celebrities and companies were hacked on Wednesday, including Apple, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and former US President Barack Obama. Hackers posted from these people's accounts that we want to do social service. They promise to double the money within 30 minutes of anyone sending funds via Bitcoin. Other hacked twitter accounts include cab company Uber, billionaire investor Warren Buffett, former US Vice President Joe Biden and media celebrity Kim Kardashian West.
According to Blockchain.com, a site that monitors cryptocurrency transactions, before the fraud was discovered, people had sent bitcoins worth $ 1.16 lakh to a fake account, whose links were shared via hacked accounts.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said, 'Tough day for us at Twitter. We all feel terrible this happened. We're diagnosing and will share everything we can when we have a more complete understanding of exactly what happened.'
Co-founder of the Gemini Exchange, Cameron Winklevoss said 'This is a SCAM, DO NOT participate! This is the same attack/takeover that other major crypto twitter accounts are experiencing. Be vigilant! Situation is ongoing.'
In March 2017, hackers hacked Twitter accounts of Amnesty International, The French Economics Ministry and the BBC's North America Service. In August last year, Hackers also hacked the account of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
