Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, to appear for a treason case, can return to Pakistan on 1st May. This information was given on Saturday by his lawyer. In March 2014, a special court had fixed charges of treason against 75-year-old Musharraf. Due to poor health, he went to Dubai for treatment in 2016, since then Musharraf has not returned to Pakistan till now.
However, after suffering from a rare disease last month, he was admitted to a Dubai hospital and his treatment is still going on. Musharraf's lawyer Salman Safdar said that despite the fact that the health of the victims is ready, he is ready to be present in the court. The court summoned them on May 2. Musharraf's family members also confirmed their return to Pakistan.
Significantly, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sharif government filed a sedition case against Musharraf. Musharraf was accused of suspending the constitution and imposing emergency in November 2007. After this, a special court termed them as criminal and ordered the acquisition of their property.
A lawyer had filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan over the anti-trafficking case on Musharraf, on which the court had said that the proceedings of the treason case were still pending as former President Pervez Musharraf did not return to Pakistan from 2016. The court thus resented and ordered them to appear on May 2. After this order of Supreme Court, Parvez Musharraf's passport and national identity card were canceled.
