Tokyo Olympics 2021 Ranking Rounds: Archer Deepika Kumari Finishes 9th, Atanu Das 35th

Archery's mixed team and men's team finished 9th in the ranking round on Day 1. Dipika Kumari and Praveen Jadhav finished ninth in the ranking round of the mixed event with 1319 points.

The official start of Tokyo Olympics 2020 amid coronavirus pandemic began today. This time, around 11,238 players will compete for 339 gold medals in 33 sports in the Olympics. Archery's mixed team and men's team finished 9th in the ranking round on Day 1. Deepika Kumari and Praveen Jadhav finished ninth in the ranking round of the mixed event with 1319 points. Deepika scored 663 marks and Praveen Jadhav scored 656 marks. While the men's team also finished ninth in the ranking round with 1961 points. Atanu Das scored 653, Praveen Jadhav scored 656 and Tarundeep Rai scored 652 points.

Deepika Kumari also ranked 9th in women's singles:

Deepika Kumari's performance in the women's archery ranking competition was not up to the mark. She finished ninth with 663 points. South Korea's archers were on the first three positions in the ranking round. Korea's Aan San ranked first with 680 points, Jang Minhee (677) second and Chaeyoung Kang (675) finished third. South Korea's Aan San has set a new Olympic record. She earned 680 points in the ranking round, which is 7 points more than the Olympic record.

Deepika reached the pre-quarterfinals in the Rio Olympics:

Deepika won three gold medals in the World Cup held in Paris a few weeks before the Olympics. So there was a lot of hope from her. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, she was successful in reaching the pre-quarterfinals.

In the men's ranking round, the performance of Indian archers was very poor. In the list of 64 archers, Praveen Jadhav finished 31st with 656 points, Atanu Das 35th with 653 points  and Tarundeep Roy with 652 points at 37th.

India won the most medals during the London Olympics:

So far in the history of the Olympics, India has won 9 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals. A maximum number of 6 medals were won in the 2012 London Olympics. The players would like to increase the number of medals this time even better than London.
