Getting tickets for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 is becoming extremely difficult now. On Wednesday, the organizers of the Olympics reported that they had received 20 million applications from Japanese residents only for the recent ticket lottery. However, sadly, only 10 lakh tickets are available for this. In such a situation, most of the people applying will have to remain empty handed. There is a competition in Japan for next year's Olympic tickets. Organizers have told that earlier about 30 lakh 57 thousand tickets were given to local residents of Japan through lottery. The organizers have stated that this is the first time that the demand for tickets is 20 times more than the availability.
The next lottery for Olympic tickets will be drawn early next year, which will be distributed to non-Japanese applicants in addition to Japan on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the organizers, about 70 lakh 80 thousand tickets will be available for sale for all the Olympic events, out of which at least 70 percent tickets will be given to Japanese residents. The most expensive tickets for the opening ceremony on July 24 are 300,000 yen (about one lakh 94 thousand rupees) while the closing ceremony tickets cost 220000 yen (about one lakh 42 thousand rupees).
Veteran Indian boxer Amit Panghal, who won a silver medal at the World Championships, hopes to win at least two gold medals in India's bag in next year's Tokyo Olympics. So far India has won only two medals in boxing. Among these, Vijender Singh won bronze medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Mary Kom in their weight categories at the 2012 London Olympics.
