Tokyo Olympics 2020: The Olympic Games have started today in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. The Tokyo Olympics has started through the ranking round of the Archery event. However, the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics will be held in the evening. According to Indian time, the opening ceremony will start from 4.30 pm and its live telecast can be seen on Sony Network.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, not much information has been revealed about how the opening ceremony will be organized. Many questions related to Tokyo Olympics will be answered only after the opening ceremony. In view of the havoc of Covid 19, only very few players and staff from every country will be a part of the opening ceremony.

24 Indian Members Participate in Opening Ceremony

The Olympic Federation of India has also taken many important decisions in view of the havoc of Covid 19. 24 members will participate in the opening ceremony from India, in which 18 players and 6 staff members have been kept. The players who have to participate in the event on the first and second day have been kept away from the opening ceremony. The pairing of Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal will not be a part of the opening ceremony.

119 Indian players in the field

The largest contingent in the history of the Olympic Games from India is participating. 119 players have reached Tokyo to get India a medal. Earlier, 118 players had entered the field for India in the Rio Olympics. India expects medals in badminton, shooting, boxing, hockey, wrestling and javelin throw.

Along with this, India would also like to recover from the disappointing performance of the Rio Olympics. After winning record 6 medals in the 2012 Olympics, India got only two medals in the Rio Olympics.

Tokyo Olympics included a total of 339 Events

11,000 athletes from 205 countries are participating in the Tokyo Olympics. The Tokyo Olympics will run from 23 July to 8 August. Tokyo Olympics will see 339 events in the next 17 days.
