Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi died on Monday from Post Covid Complications. He was 84 years old. Gogoi was suffering from corona in August.
He recovered once but was struggling with post covid complexes and breathed his last at 5.34 pm at the Medical College Hospital in Guwahati. He was the Chief Minister of Assam three times.
Suffering from Corona

Gogoi was hospitalized on 2 November. He had to shift to a ventilator when his condition worsened on Saturday. On 25 August, he was admitted to Guwahati Medical College the day after he was diagnosed with corona infection.
He was discharged on October 25 after being kept in hospital for 2 months due to other complications due to Corona.
Assam Health Minister was already told that his Condition is Critical
Let us inform you that before this, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, present at GMCH with Gogoi’s son, said, ‘The situation of the former Chief Minister is very delicate and worrying.
He is fully on life-saving equipment however, doctors are making efforts. Now God’s blessings and people’s prayers are necessary for improving their condition.
Sarma said that Gogoi’s organs have stopped working, the brain is getting some signals, the eyes are moving and after the pacemaker is installed, his heart is working and apart from that, no organ is working.

Prime Minister Modi has mourned his death. Gogoi underwent dialysis for 6 hours on Sunday, but the body again accumulated toxins. After this, his body was not in such a condition that dialysis could be done again.
Longest Chief Minister of Assam

Gogoi was born on 1 April 1936. He was the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He won Congress in three consecutive assembly elections. Also holds the record of being the longest Chief Minister of Assam.
Gogoi was elected to the Lok Sabha 6 times. He was a Member of Parliament from Jorhat thrice from 1971 to 1985. He was followed by Kalibor MP from 1991-96 and 1998-2002. His son Gaurav Gogoi is currently the MP for this seat.
