The state administration on Friday started the process of dividing the state service personnel into the Two union territories. The state administration has asked all the service personnel as per their wish to join the service of one of the two Union Territories.

The administration has asked all the concerned officials to file an application regarding the option and priority of offering their services in either Jammu and Kashmir or Ladakh by 22 October. There are about five lakh government personnel in Jammu and Kashmir. Many of these have been appointed at the state level, division level and district level. The government's circular is for state service personnel.

The State General Administration Department has issued a circular on Friday to direct the attention of all administrative secretaries to sub-section two of section 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act. Accordingly, the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will, through a general or special order, allot the services of every officer and personnel to the proposed Union Territory.

For this, they will also consider their priority as stated by the concerned officer and personnel. It further states that the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is a Union Territory to deal with any deficiency in the services of the officers of the two Union Territories going to be formed from a unified Jammu Kashmir. Can be appointed in other Union Territory.
