The BJP today gave a befitting reply to the Congress Party's relentlessly aggressive stance on the ongoing deadlock with China in eastern Ladakh. Taking a dig at the Congress party, BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asked the Congress what was the agreement made between the Congress Party and the Communist Party of China in 2008, why did the Chinese Embassy donate to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation? The Union Minister said, 'Our question was with the Congress Party in 2008 with the Communist Party of China. In which Rahul Gandhi signed and Sonia Gandhi was standing behind, why a party-to-party relationship? Congress party should tell how many such parties have signed MoUs in 10 years of Manmohan Singh's government. Chinese embassy donated in it is so clear, why did this happen? What is needed is the name of many industrialists and PSUs. Wasn't it enough that a bribe was also taken from China Embassy'
Ravi Shankar Prasad said, 'The FTA between India and China, along with the rest of the activities in the 2009-11 report, is justified, more is possible in the cooperation of the two sides. Citizens should note this, there should be a comprehensive FTA which also includes investment and import of goods and services, but the trade deficit increased by 33 times. Congress party should answer why it fell in love with China so much.
Another big question that the Congress Party should answer is, '1977 Foreign Contribution and Relations Act – under which no political party, no organization can get foreign donations without informing the government. This law was also made during these times. Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was an extension of Congress. Did they get permission from the government before taking donations. Even if it is an educational, cultural, social organization, even then the government has to tell that you have taken the money from China Embassy, why did you take it, if used, what is it used for?
The BJP leader further said, 'Congress party should answer that the Foundation has not only taken money but violated the laws, BJP wants to know what was happening. There is a provision in the law that if someone violates this law, then there can be a punishment of up to 5 years. The work of the Congress party is to weaken the army, it is their job to ask for proof of the case of Uri attack incident and Balakot air strike.
