Tesla Inc. has written a letter to the Government of India demanding a reduction in import tax on electric vehicles. Along with this, Elon Musk also told what is the reason for the delay in launching Tesla's car in India.
The cars of the American company Tesla, the world's largest electric car maker, are eagerly awaited in India. Not only Indians but Tesla Chief Elon Musk himself is very excited about it. It is believed that Tesla will soon launch its cars in India. Meanwhile, an Indian Twitter user requested Elon Musk to launch Tesla cars in India soon, to which Musk replied.
Replying to this user, Elon Musk said that Tesla Inc. can set up a factory in India with the success of imported vehicles. He further said that we want to do this, but the import tax here is the highest in the world as compared to any big country. In addition, clean energy vehicles are considered at par with diesel or petrol, which are not in line with India's climate change goals.
According to a Reuters report, Elon Musk's target is to launch Tesla cars in India this year. Musk has written a letter to the central government saying that reducing the import tax for fully assembled electric cars by 40 percent would be more. Tesla has urged the Indian government to reduce the import tax on electric cars. Tesla Inc has written to Indian ministries requesting them to reduce the import tax on electric vehicles.
