YouTube is rolling out a new feature where you can able to connect your YouTube TV application to the one on your phone. YouTube insights claim that over 80% of people said they use another digital device while watching TV. It also showed that "as of January 2022 viewers watch over 700 million hours of YouTube content on TV daily."
Its research also revealed that people launched the YouTube mobile app and engaged with the video (for example, like, subscribing) while watching the same video on TV.
These observations have encouraged YouTube to bring out this new functionality. The functionality ensures that consumers enjoy the same experience on their TV as they do on their mobile devices.
According to YouTube, the TV and mobile devices should be registered into the same account.
Users must first launch the YouTube app on their TV, followed by the YouTube app on their phone. They must respond to the "Connect" prompt that will appear on their phone. The phone will be synchronized with the television.
Users may now engage with the video they are watching on TV directly from their phones. YouTube claims that watching videos on the big screen will make it simpler to read video descriptions, write comments, share the video with a friend, or support favorite creators by sending a Super Chat or becoming a member.
YouTube also intends to expand the TV app's functionality. The firm aims to "try fresh designs" for the video viewing page, according to the company. According to the company, the goal is to "bring more distinctly YouTube features to the TV, such as the ability to explore and purchase for items mentioned in videos."
