Xiaomi is getting ready to launch its Mi 9 flagship phone for 2019 on February 20 at an event in Beijing, China. Xiaomi made the announcement on its official Weibo handle, stating that this will a 'super-powerful' flagship in 2019, and called it the 'best looking Mi phone so far.'

The codename for the phone is 'Battle Angel.' The Mi 9 launch will take place on the same day as the Samsung Galaxy S10, which will be revealed at an event in San Francisco.

Based on one of the images shared, Xiaomi's Mi 9 could come with triple cameras at the back, which is stacked vertically. Xiaomi's poster shows Mi brand ambassador in China Wang Yuan holding a device, which is likely the Mi 9 that launches next week.

Xiaomi is also hosting an event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on February 24, 2019. The Mi 9 could also get a global launch at this event, though again the company has not confirmed any of this. The expectation is that the Mi Mix 3 with 5G ready capabilities will be shown at MWC 2019.

A lot has already been revealed about the Xiaomi Mi 9 ahead of the launch. Rumours suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be the first smartphone from the company to be powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship processor – Snapdragon 855.

The Mi 9 is expected to see a major revamp over the last year's Mi 8. The upcoming flagship smartphone from Xiaomi will be an improved version of its predecessor. Rumours suggest that the Mi 8 will come with triple cameras and the fingerprint sensor will be embedded under the display.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Mi 9 is expected to come packed with 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and aspect ratio of 19:9. The Mi 9 is said to launch running on Android 9 Pie software based on the latest MIUI.

For now, the latest MIUI is the MIUI 10, but rumours suggest that the company is working on MIUI 11. There are high chances that alongside the Mi 9 Xiaomi may introduce the MIUI 11 UI as well.

Xiaomi is taking a step extra when it comes to the camera setup of the upcoming Mi 9. The flagship phone is rumoured to come with three cameras on the back panel including 48MP primary sensor, 12MP secondary sensor with PDAF support and the third is a TOF camera. The phone is said to come paired with dual LED flash. On the front, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to pack a 25MP selfie shooter.

Rumours further reveal that the Mi 9 will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, Type C port, fast battery charging 32W support, among other things. The Mi 9 will be a waterdrop notched display phone which will equip the selfie camera. The bezels on the sides of the Mi 9 are said to slimmer than the Mi 9, the chin, however, will be slightly on the thicker side.

 The Mi 9 is expected to be packed by a 3500mAh battery. The Mi 9 is also said to come packed with Type-C 1.0 reversible connector.

Xiaomi is said to launch the Mi 9 is several colour options like Black, Blue, White, and Gold. The smartphone is expected to launch in three models – 256GB + 8GB RAM, 128GB + 6RAM, and 128GB + 8GB RAM. There seems to be no card slot on the Mi 9.
