The 'Delete for Everyone' feature on WhatsApp now has an extension. You may now erase your incorrectly sent messages within a wider time range more than two days after sending them. Previously, the Meta-owned instant messaging program permitted users to remove an incorrectly transmitted message within one hour, eight minutes, and 16 seconds.

This expansion was initially mentioned in February of this year. The news follows the announcement of three new privacy features by WhatsApp to deliver a more secure communication experience on the app.

WhatsApp implemented a one-hour time limit for deleting messages

WhatsApp said on Twitter that "you will have a little more than 2 days to erase your messages from your conversations once you push send." In 2018, WhatsApp implemented a one-hour time limit for deleting messages from the conversation. Originally, the ability to remove messages for everyone in the chat had a time limit of seven minutes after sending.

WABetainfo, a site that tests WhatsApp features before they are released to the general public, responded to WhatsApp's tweet by specifically stating that the new time restriction for "Delete Message for Everyone" is 2 hours and 12 hours.

To be able to erase messages within two days, you and all recipients must have the most recent version of WhatsApp. There is no indication if this capability is exclusive to Android or iOS users.

It should, however, be accessible for both WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp for iOS. It should be simple to delete a message for everyone. Simply press and hold the message (picture, video, or document) you wish to delete, then select Delete > "Delete for everyone."

WhatsApp announced three new privacy features

As previously said, the development comes after WhatsApp announced three new privacy features to provide greater control over chats and provide more privacy. These new features include the ability to depart group conversations without alerting everyone, the ability to restrict who can see when you're available, and the ability to disable screenshots on see-once messages.

Other capabilities already available on WhatsApp include defaulting end-to-end protection for calls and messages, disappearing messages, end-to-end encrypted backups, 2-step authentication, and the option to ban and report problematic chats.
