
The Twitter account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was hewed late on Saturday night. After which a tweet related to bitcoin was posted on Twitter. However, soon this tweet was withdrawn from the official Twitter handle of the Prime Minister. His account is now completely secure. In this matter, the PMO has issued an announcement and has asked people to neglect any tweet during the hacking.
The PMO has said, 'The Twitter handle of PM Modi has been fiddled with. The matter has been taken to Twitter and the account was instantly ensured. In the momentary span when the account was compromised, any tweet transmitted should be ignored. A tweet related to bitcoin was posted from the PM's Twitter account at 2:07 pm, then it was immediately removed. Another tweet was made in the same span. That too got deleted then. Then at 2:11 pm, a third similar tweet was made which stayed for some time.
Twitter has also described the matter. A Twitter spokesperson said, 'There is a facility to have 24X7 communication with PMO. As soon as we became knowledgeable of this activity, our teams took the crucial steps to secure the hewed account. Our analysis has revealed that there is no information about any other impacted accounts at this term.
When the PM's account was hacked, a tweet related to the digital currency bitcoin was posted on it. The hackers tweeted from PM Modi's Twitter handle and wrote, 'India has officially given legal recognition to bitcoin. The govt has bought 500 BTC and is distributing it among the common people. Hurry up India… The future has come today!' A link was also pasted with this tweet.
