The government has informed its officials that social media apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram will not be safe for sharing confidential data or paperwork. Keeping this in mind, the Center has issued new guidelines requiring all government employees to refrain from using WhatsApp, Telegram, or other social media apps to share confidential information.
The reason for this is that those apps' servers are owned by private corporations all over the world, and the data could be misused by anti-India forces. Officers should only connect via e-office during work from home (WFH) periods. This order also applies to Amazon Alexa, Apple HomePod, Google Meet, Zoom, and a variety of other products.

This order for WhatsApp, Telegram, and other social media apps was made after an analysis of the existing system's flaws. Due to frequent violations of nationwide communication norms and official instructions to avoid labelled data leaks, the Center has issued a revised communication advisory developed by intelligence businesses. When faced with restricted communications, all ministries have been directed to take "immediate steps" to prevent such breaches or to carefully follow communication security insurance policies and suggestions.
The new instructions also state that sensitive information or paperwork should not be shared via work from home setup during work from home. Furthermore, the residence method via the National Informatics Center (NIC) Virtual Private Network should be limited to the office community. In addition, new communication guidelines have been issued to all central ministries and departments, and top officials have been instructed not to use smart watches or smart phones during conferences where confidential or national security issues are discussed.
Apart from that, The Information Technology Ministry has taken action against some Twitter and YouTube channels and handles. According to reports, they have been charged with publishing inflammatory material related to the phony cabinet meeting. According to reports, the government took these steps in response to a complaint filed by junior minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. The government also ordered the blocking of a large number of YouTube channels in December of last year.
