The second generation of Apple AirPods, AirPods 2, has been in news for quite some time now. In the past, we have heard that the Apple AirPods 2 could come with a feature that would enable users to invoke Siri hands-free. And now, a new report suggests that the AirPods 2 would feature a design that is similar to the original AirPods.
The AirPods 2 will look similar to the AirPods, they will come with better bass response and a bunch of new sensors that will make them a bit smarter and more utilitarian than their predecessor. The AirPods 2 will come with sensors that will help users track various health-related parameters including their heart rate – a feature that previous reports.
The report also states that while the design of the AirPods 2 will remain largely unchanged compared with the AirPods, they will come with a special coating, which is similar to the one used by Google for its Pixel smartphone. 2019's iPhone model, possibly iPhone 11 is likely to come with a similar coating. Apart from the design, the battery is another feature that is likely to remain unchanged.
Battery coupled with the identical battery might make the things a tad bit boring, but the report says that Apple could diversify its AirPods 2 by offering them in two color variants – Black and White. Meaning, users will now have the choice of either going with the shiny White AirPods 2 that are visible from afar or buy a more subtle Black variant.
Apart from being smarter, the AirPods 2 will also be a bit costly than their predecessor. Unlike the AirPods, that were priced around $160 (Rs 11,300 approximately), the AirPods 2 is likely to cost around $200 (Rs 14,100 approximately).
The report also states that the Cupertino, California-based company would also launch the AirPower wireless charging mat alongside the Apple AirPods 2. The device is expected to be thicker than originally anticipated and it will come with some additional feature. But those features won't be available till Apple releases the iOS 13.
Apple is expected to launch both the devices, AirPods 2 and AirPower, in Spring or around April this year.
