It often happens that your phone is lost/stolen and you write its report too, but because of changing its SIM card or IMEI number, it becomes difficult to find out. The government is going to present a solution to your problem next month.
The government is going to start such a technology-based solution in the next one month, due to which SIM card or IMEI number is changed, mobile phones of lost or stolen can be traced. The Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has developed technology and it is expected to be launched in August.
An official of the Department of Telecommunication said, "Technology is ready with C-DOT. After the Parliament session, the Department of Telecommunications will contact the Minister for the initiation of this system. It should be applied next month. ' The current session of the Parliament will last till July 26.
With the aim of reducing fake mobile phones and theft incidents in July 2017, the Department of Telecommunications had given C-DOT the task of developing the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).
The government had allocated an amount of Rs. 15 crores for the formation of CEIR. The CEIR system will block all types of services on theft or lost phones, even after removing the SIM card or changing the IMEI number.
Actually, when a mobile is stolen, thieves change the mobile's IMEI number and sell it to other people. After that it becomes difficult to find the phone.
Many thieves steal expensive mobile and change their IMEI numbers so that it does not get tracked. Each phone has different IMEI number, so its tracking becomes easy. Phones are tracked from this number.
The report of missing or stolen phones is written to the cyber crime branch in the police. This branch searches for thieves by putting that mobile on tracking.
