In India, there is a growing trend towards electric vehicles, evident from the latest sales figures.
The annual sales of electric vehicles in the country saw a significant increase of 49.25% in the year 2023, reaching a total of 1,529,947 units.
This information was provided by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on Tuesday.
According to the data, the electric vehicle industry sold a total of 1,025,063 vehicles in the year 2022. In 2023, the sales of two-wheeled electric vehicles increased by 36.09%, reaching 859,376 units, compared to 631,464 units in 2022.
According to the latest report from FADA, the annual sales of three-wheeler electric vehicles experienced a remarkable growth of 65.23%, reaching 582,793 units, as compared to 352,710 units in 2022.
The sales of e-commercial vehicles also saw a substantial increase, rising by 114.16% annually to 5,673 units, compared to 2,649 units in the previous year.
The data also revealed a significant surge in the sales of electric passenger vehicles, witnessing a growth of 114.71% to reach 82,105 units, up from 38,240 vehicles in 2022.
The sales of electric vehicles (EVs) showcased an impressive performance in the past month of November. The combined sales of EVs (both passenger and commercial) increased by 25.5% in November, reaching a total of 152,606 units.
In November 2022, the retail sales of electric vehicles were at 121,596 units. Over the past few years, automotive companies have introduced various models of electric vehicles in the Indian market, ranging from electric two-wheelers to luxury electric cars.
Witnessing the growing demand in this sector, companies are also increasing their investments.
