Team India’s ‘Superfan’ Charulata Patel Passes Away

Team India's Superfan Charulata Patel Passed away at the age of 87. During World Cup, she reached the stadium to cheer Indian team in the match against Bangladesh. After the match, many cricketers of Team India met her, after which her photos and videos became fiercely viral and she became famous overnight. The BCCI also paid tribute to Charulata via twitter. She breathed her last on 13 January. Charulata's death was reported from her own official Instagram page.

Charulata's Granddaughter wrote on Instagram, "It is with a heavy heart that I inform you, our beautiful grandmother took her final breath on 13/01 at 5.30pm. She was such a sweet little lady, it's true 'small things come in small packages' our Dadi was a delight, she was/is truly extraordinary. She was our world. I want to thank you all for making her feel special last year, she loved the attention. A big thank you to @virat.kohli you made her feel extra special, meeting you and @rohitsharma45 was the best day of her life (she told us this on multiple occasions). May Lord Shiva bless her atman always, please all say a prayer."

Charulata reached the stadium with her granddaughter in a wheelchair to support Team India with Indian flag in her hands. Everyone was surprised to see her craze for cricket at that stage of her age. She strongly supported Team India in that match. Seeing the 87-year-old elderly woman's passion for cricket, India's big industrialist Anand Mahindra had sponsored tickets for the matches ahead of the World Cup. After seeing viral photos on social media, Anand Mahindra had also tweeted many. The special thing was that in 1983, when the Indian team led by Kapil Dev became world champions, She was still present in the historic Lord's Stadium.
