Team India's skipper Virat Kohli on Monday received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. He shared an Instagram story while taking the vaccine. Along with this, he also appealed to his fans to get the vaccine as soon as possible and wrote "Vaccinate as soon as you can please".
Apart from Virat, three other players vaccinated before the England tour. Before him, Indian team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma also received the first dose. On Sunday, the Indian skipper thanked the frontline workers for putting their "lives at risk" to save others. He tweeted, "I have nothing but gratitude for all the healthcare and frontline workers, they put their lives at risk to save ours, for this we are in awe of their spirit and dedication."
Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have also been encouraging the citizen in the war against Coronavirus in the last few days. Last week, both announced that they were organising a campaign to raise funds for COVID-19 relief work in India. Virat and Anushka themselves donated Rs 2 crore to the campaign and urged others to "come together and help our India."
On the other hand, Ishant shared a photo of the vaccination with wife Pratima Singh on social media and wrote – "Thankful for this and grateful for all the essential workers. Happy to see the smooth running of the facility & management. Let's all get vaccinated at the earliest". At the same time, Rahane also took the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with his wife Radhika two days ago. Rahane is currently in Mumbai after the suspension of IPL 2021.
