After the T20 World Cup, Team India's tour of South Africa will not be accompanied by other coaching staff including Chief Coach Ravi Shastri. Shastri's contract expires after the T20 World Cup. He has turned down the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) offer to extend the contract till the tour of South Africa. In such a situation, there will be a new coach with the team on the South Africa tour.

Sports website Inside Sports, quoting BCCI sources, has reported that after the T20 World Cup, Ravi Shastri has refused the proposal of BCCI to extend the contract for a few months. In such a situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India may invite applications for the appointment of a coach.

The chances of Rahul Dravid becoming a coach is less

The report claimed that Rahul Dravid is handling the head post of the National Cricket Academy, so he will not coach Team India. However, it is not known whether he has been approached for the tour of South Africa.

Tests, ODIs, and T20s are also to be played on the South Africa tour

On the South Africa tour, Team India has to play a series of three Test matches, three ODIs, and four T20 matches. The first Test will start on December 17. At the same time, the last T20 match is to be played on 26 January 2022. With this, the tour will end.

Ravi Shastri is the coach of Team India since 2017. His contract was extended in 2019, which expires after the T20 World Cup. Between Ravi Shastri and Virat, Team India has performed brilliantly on foreign soil in Tests. On the tour of Australia, the team won the series by defeating Australia. On the other hand, England was ahead 2-1 in the five-Test series on the tour. The team also reached the final of the World Test Championship held for the first time. However, the team had to face defeat from New Zealand.

Won 25 out of 43 Tests

Under the coaching of Ravi Shastri, the Indian team has won 25 Test matches out of 43 Tests. The success rate has been above 60%. At the same time, 51 out of 76 were won in ODIs. The success rate was 67%. Similarly, in T20, India won 40 out of 60 matches. 66% is the success rate.

Ganguly has also said that he has not spoken to Dravid yet

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, while talking to The Telegraph, has already said that he has not yet spoken to Rahul Dravid regarding the coach's post. Ganguly had said- I understand that he (Rahul Dravid) is not interested to work permanently (for the position of coach). However, we too have never spoken to him about it. When we think about this (about the coach's post), then we will see what happens.
