Taranjit Singh Sandhu to be the New Ambassador of America

Taranjit Singh Sandhu has also been the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington prior to his deployment to Sri Lanka.

India's next ambassador to the US will be Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Currently he is working in the Colombo Indian Embassy. He is a 1988 batch IFS. This information was given by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday.

The current Ambassador to the US Harshvardhan Shringla will be the next Foreign Secretary of India. He will replace Vijay Gokhale on 31 January. Sandhu has previously served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC from July 2013 to January 2017. The Consul General of India worked in Frankfurt from September 2011 to July 2013.

Taranjit Singh Sandhu will replace Harshvardhan Shringla in America. Harshvardhan Shringla has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary of India. Taranjit Singh Sandhu has also been the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington prior to his deployment to Sri Lanka. He has also served as Consul General of India in Frankfurt from September 2011 to July 2013.

Sandhu has worked in the Ministry of External Affairs from March 2009 to August 2011 as Joint Secretary (United Nations) and later as Joint Secretary  in the Human Resources Department. Apart from this, he has served in the permanent mission of India to the United Nations from July 2005 to February 2009.
