In December 2019, a birthday celebration in the town of Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu became the talk of the town. Dairy owner Mariyur Ramdas Ganesh showered rose petals on his one-year-old son's birthday from a helicopter. The whole city had become a witness to this celebration and for a long time, this thing was also mentioned. But now this city is telling that businessman Mariyur Ramdas Ganesh and his brother Mariyur Ramdas have touched the flight with 600 crores of people. There are posters in the city in search of 'helicopter brothers'.

Local BJP merchant wing leader Mariyur Ramdas Ganesh and his brother Mariyur Ramdas Swaminathan have been accused of fraud of Rs 600 crore. Posters have been pasted in Kumbakonam town demanding action against them. An FIR has been registered against the two brothers in Thanjavur District Crime Branch on Wednesday for cheating people. Srikanth (56), believed to be the manager of his company, has been arrested.

According to a senior police officer in Kumbakonam

Zafarullah, who invested in his company, and his wife Fairaj Bhanu have filed a complaint against the two brothers with Thanjavur SP Deshmukh Shekhar Sanjay. In the complaint, the couple claimed that they had deposited Rs 15 crore in a company owned by the brothers, but never got the amount of interest back. He alleged that the brothers threatened him and hence he approached the police.

According to a senior police officer in Kumbakonam, they have business links in many countries, but we do not have the details yet, we are trying to find out. Based on the complaint, the District Crime Branch has started an investigation. At the same time, BJP leader N Satish Kumar issued a statement saying that Ganesh has been removed from the post.

'Who are the Helicopter brothers'?

According to the police, Mariyur Ramadas Ganesh and Mariyur Ramadas Swaminathan, residents of Tiruvarur, settled in Kumbakonam five-six years ago and started the dairy business with foreign breed cows. Both the brothers live in the posh Shree Nagar Colony. People say that they used to roam with security personnel inexpensive vehicles and were living a luxurious life.

Over the years, the two brothers expanded their business to Singapore and other countries, and their business flourished. He started a financial entity called Victory Finance, and in 2019, registered an aviation company named Arjun Aviation Pvt Ltd in his name. In between, Ganesh joined the BJP and increased his political power in business.

The brothers built a helipad in the village of Korukkai. The helicopter used to fly here and there on the birthdays of family members. Apart from this, on many occasions, the helicopter kept flying in and out of the city. But trouble started in the life of both of them from last year.

First promised, later reneged

According to police officials, both the brothers had been duping people for the past few years by promising them to double their company's money in 12 months. He had appointed agents to involve as many people as possible in his plan. In return, they assured commission to the agent. Many businessmen and wealthy people of the city invested in his company, falling prey to his plan.

According to police officials, initially, the brothers kept their promises but later started delaying the payments. Last year, when people started asking for their money, they were told that the company was incurring losses due to Corona, but the payment would be made soon. However, as the delay increased, some became suspicious.

An investor in Korkai claims – 

An investor in Korkai who claims to have invested in MR Ganesh's company, said, "I had invested Rs 10 lakh in MR Ganesh's company. He said that he would give Rs 20 lakh in return. I have proof of that deal. When I approached him for my money, he asked me to come back the next day, and eventually stopped responding. One day I got a check for Rs 10 lakh, but it bounced. When I put this in front of him, he threatened me citing my political ties.

Another person named Karthikeyan also says that he had invested Rs 4 lakh through an agent, but it has been more than a year that he has not got the return on time. Agents who had worked for the brothers now pasted posters across the city, demanding action from the government against them. The posters claimed that the amount the brothers had cheated from the people amounted to Rs 600 crore.
