Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy head of the Taliban political office in Qatar, held discussion with the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan Wang Yu in Kabul on Tuesday. According to the Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem, "They discussed the security of the Chinese embassy and diplomats. The current situation in Afghanistan, bilateral relations and China's humanitarian assistance."

After the Taliban took over Afghanistan, foreign nationals and their Afghan allies are trying to leave the country. Many countries, including the US, have completely closed their embassies. On the other hand, China has kept its embassy in Kabul remained open.

Withdrawal of US forces in Afghanistan paved the way for the Taliban:

Earlier media reports had said that China is ready to recognize the terrorist group if the Taliban were successful in ousting the democratically elected government. The Taliban began occupying key districts in Afghanistan in May. On August 15, it took over the whole war-torn country. The recent withdrawal of US forces after a 20-year presence in Afghanistan paved the way for the organisation to control vast areas of Afghanistan.
