In such a situation, the T20 World Cup to be held from October 18 to November 15 is also under threat. The Australian Football League (AFL) and National Rugby League season to be held in Australia has already been suspended due to the coronavirus. The dates of these leagues can collide with the T20 World Cup dates.
The T20 World Cup Organizing Committee Chief Executive Officer Nick Hockley said, "We want to put ourselves in the best position from where we can successfully organize this tournament as per schedule. We hope it will be as per schedule. We are looking into it from all aspects. We are in talks with the organizing committee, the ICC and all the members. If something changes, we will let everyone know about it, but for now, only seven months are left and we have only a little time. If AFL and Rugby League start in Australia, it will start only after September."
Hockley said that many tournament seasons of the sporting event have become quite long. We still believe that the T20 World Cup is in a strong position to be held because it is now going to come back here only after the next 10-20 years. We are already excited about ticket sales. The ICC has already made it clear that there is no question of postponement of the T20 World Cup and it will be done according to its schedule.
