On a petition filed against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 for police action to stop the alleged violent demonstrations at Jamia Millia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University. The Supreme Court heard on Tuesday.

The apex court said it is ready to consider the demand for a CBI or court-monitored SIT probe into the violence against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. On Monday, the court had said on the plea of ​​advocate Indira Jaising that we are not against peaceful protests but we cannot allow the law and order to take over.

Chief Justice SA Bobde said that he wanted the violence to stop. We will determine the rights but it cannot happen in the circumstances of the riots. The Chief Justice said that the violence should be peaceful first, then later we will consider the whole matter. We are not against rights and peaceful demonstrations. We want to be assured of peace, but if you want to get on the road, do not come to us. Indira Jaising told the Supreme Court that the court should take cognizance of the issue as such incidents are violations of human rights.

The flames of violence that began in Assam and Bengal in the name of opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the country on Sunday engulfed the capital Delhi and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. The miscreants caused maximum disarray at Jamia Milia University in Delhi and AMU in Aligarh. Many buses were burnt in Delhi. About 40 people, including students, policemen and firemen were injured here.
