Supreme Court Dismisses the Review Petition of Convicts in Haren Pandya Murder Case

In the Haren Pandya Murder Case, the Supreme Court has dismissed the revision petition of the convicts. The petition was filed on 5 July 2019 on behalf of the convicts. Former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya was shot and killed in 2003 by some miscreants. During this period, out of the 12 accused found guilty in the investigation, 10 accused had filed a review petition. While delivering its verdict, the Supreme Court said that after reviewing all the reconsideration petitions, it has been decided that there is no mistake in it, hence these petitions are dismissed.

Significantly, on 26 March 2003, Home Minister Pandya was shot dead by some miscreants in Ahmedabad. According to the report in the CBI investigation, Pandya was shot to avenge the Gujarat riots in 2002. This year, the Supreme Court convicted 12 people in this case. The culprits are Mohammad Rauf, Mohammad Parvez Abdul Qayyum Sheikh, Parvez Khan Pathan alias Athar Parvez, Mohammad Farooq alias Ghazi Farooq, Shahnawaz Gandhi, Kalim Ahmad alias Kalimullah, Rehan Puthwala, Mohammad Riaz Sareswala, Aneez Machiswala, Mohammad Yunus Sareeswala and Mohammad Saifuddin.
