Supreme Court: Babri Demolition Case to be Completed Within 9 Months

The Supreme Court asked Special Judge Hearing the Babri demolition case to pronounce the verdict in 9 months, in which names of many BJP leaders including LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were named. The apex court said on Friday clearly that the hearing of this case should be completed within nine months and the verdict should also come. The Supreme Court has accepted the time of 9 months from today ie Friday, July 19. The court also directed to increase the tenure of the retiring judge in September.

The trial of the Babri demolition case is being conducted in Lucknow by CBI trial judge S K Yadav, who will be retiring on September 30, 2019. He had earlier filed an application in the Supreme Court and said that he would need additional time to complete the Babri Masjid case, in which many BJP leaders have names. On this, the Supreme Court has asked the Special Judge to complete the hearing within 9 months to complete the hearing and make a decision. The court also said that the hearing of evidence in the Babri Masjid demolition case should be completed within 6 months.

The country's apex court has been hearing the Babri Masjid demolition case and directed the special judge, who is going to retire on September 30, till the hearing of the case is completed. In this case, the hearing was scheduled for April 2019 before the hearing, but the judge sought additional time of 6 months to complete the hearing. Since the judge is scheduled to retire on September 30 and the trial is not yet completed, the top court has extended his term till the hearing of this case is completed. In this case, the name of Uma Bharati along with Advani, Joshi is also included.
