Stock Market Closed on Guru Nanak Jayanti, Slight Increase Recorded on Monday

Due to holiday on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, trading on the stock market and commodity futures market is closed on Tuesday. However, trading for international commodities will continue in the evening session in the commodity futures market. Earlier on Monday, the stock market saw a slight increase.

Stock Market Situation on Monday

On Monday, the Sensex gained 21.47 points to close at 40,345.08 and the Nifty closed marginally up by 4.80 points at 11,913.45. In the day's trade, the Sensex touched an upper level of 40,417.44 and a low of 40,150.97. The Nifty opened with a loss of 28.95 points at 11,879.20 and closed at 11,913.45 with a slight gain of 5.30 points or 0.04 per cent.

The Nifty touched a high of 11,932.65 and a low of 11,853.95 in the day's trading. Yes Bank (5.80 per cent), Tata Motors (1.68 per cent), ICICI Bank (1.53 per cent), IndusInd Bank (1.50 per cent) and Axis Bank (1.12 per cent) were the biggest gainers in Monday's business. Sensex's declining stocks included Hero Moto Corp (2.00 per cent), VEDL (1.90 per cent), TCS (1.42 per cent) and Reliance (1.21 per cent) and Asian Paint (1.16 per cent).
