Women here have been protesting against the atrocities committed by TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates for the past few days. The victimized women of Sandeshkhali have narrated their ordeal themselves.

They have accused Shahjahan Sheikh and his supporters of committing atrocities, sexual harassment, and land grabbing. One woman who made the allegations said that TMC members go door-to-door in the village, and during this time, if they see any beautiful woman or girl in the house, Shahjahan Sheikh's people would abduct her and keep her with them at the party office or elsewhere the whole night, and after committing sexual harassment the next day, they would leave her in front of her house or somewhere nearby.

As soon as the case came to light, the Governor immediately took cognizance of the matter and personally visited Sandeshkhali. Speaking to the media later, he said that what happened in Sandeshkhali was shocking.
