India's first pod taxi will be run in Kumbh Nagri, Haridwar to run the traffic system smoothly.
Taking a big decision in the Dhami cabinet meeting, the Uttarakhand government has given a big gift to the Haridwar district.
In Haridwar, the Dhami cabinet has granted approval for the operation of pod taxis within the Personal Rapid Transit System on a track spanning 20.74 kilometers.
The Haridwar Pod Taxi Project will be developed in the PPP mode. Haridwar is also called Kumbh Nagri. The Uttarakhand Metro Corporation has formulated a proposal for the implementation of pod taxis as a modern transportation option in the region.
A total of 4 corridors will be made and the length of these corridors will be 20.4 km and pod taxis will be run here.
Uttarakhand Metro Corporation has prepared a detailed project report for this. Tenders will be issued for this after getting approval from the cabinet.
It is being said that this project will be completed within one and half year. In this project, there will not be much need for land acquisition.
Along with this, it has been announced to run pod taxis from Delhi-Haryana border to Rajiv Chowk.
Personal Rapid Transport (PRT) Pod Car or Pod Taxi are the names of the same technology car. The pod car is run with the help of solar energy.
It has been made fully automatic, through which 3 to 6 passengers can be carried at a time.
The first pod car in the world was run in 1970 at West Virginia University.
