In Etah, Uttar Pradesh, a man has been arrested after claiming to have voted 8 times at a polling booth, prompting the Election Commission to order re-voting at the affected polling station.

The incident occurred when the individual filmed himself casting multiple votes, leading to rapid circulation on social media. In response, all members of the polling party have been suspended by the Election Commission.

Leaders such as Congress' Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav have also shared the video.

Man Who Voted 8 Times Arrested

Following the revelation, a case has been registered at the Naya Gaon police station in Etah district. The individual identified as Rajan Singh from Pamaraan village in Khiriya has been accused of voting eight times. Police have arrested Rajan in connection with the incident.

Directives Issued by the CEO

The CEO has issued two crucial directives following the revelation of a voter casting his ballot eight times in Etah district.

Firstly, all members of the polling team involved have been suspended, and disciplinary proceedings will be undertaken against them.

Secondly, the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh has emphasized strict compliance with electoral procedures in the upcoming phases of the election.

What Is Shown In The Video?

The video shows a young man standing near an EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) and claiming to have cast his vote 8 times. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav shared this video on his social media account X.

Alongside the video, he wrote that if the Election Commission finds this to be true, they must take necessary action, otherwise... implying criticism towards the BJP's booth committee, suggesting it acts more like a "loot committee".
