In a significant development, officials of the Rajasthan government stumbled upon unclaimed cash worth Rs 2.31 crore and a 1 kg gold bar at Yojana Bhawan, a prominent government building in Jaipur.

Police have detained approximately 7-8 individuals from the department for questioning regarding this discovery.

In a late-night press conference held by Jaipur City Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava, accompanied by Chief Secretary Usha Sharma and Director General of Police (DGP), it was revealed that the recovery of cash and a gold bar in the basement was made possible due to specific inputs provided by Mahesh Gupta, Additional Director of the IT Department.

The Additional Director informed the police about the presence of the undisclosed assets, leading to their subsequent discovery.

Police has started investigation into the matter

Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Kumar Srivastava, quoted by ANI, revealed that a bag containing over Rs 2.31 crores in cash and approximately 1 kg of gold biscuits were discovered in a cupboard at the basement of Yojana Bhawan, the Government Office in Jaipur.

In accordance with Section 102 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the police have seized the currency notes, and a dedicated team has been assigned to investigate the matter.

Furthermore, Commissioner Srivastava mentioned that the authorities are currently reviewing the CCTV footage as part of their ongoing investigation. He also informed Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot about the incident, keeping him updated on the progress of the case.
